BOB BEECHAM

THE DRIVER WITH THE MOST FUN PAINTJOB ON THE ENTIRE GRID.

OUR ONLY CRITICISM IS THAT HE DOESN'T GET IN AND OUT OF THE WINDOW, OR SHOUT "YEEHAW."

Bob shows a flash of orange - on the way to 2nd in class at Snetterton 2011

Bob Beecham is not, as widely thought, full of menthol vapours with a honey centre. At least, not that we know.

A class F stalwart, with the most orange car since the Dukes of Hazard, he somehow manages not to paint a union jack on the roof and call it "Generally." To our great dismay.

Bob's in this for the love of it. You'll never meet a nicer fella more devoted to the art of getting the hell out of your way. Piloting a car that has had less development than the cereal box you opened this morning, a blinkered view might ask whether it's any fun, which would completely miss the point of going club racing.

A wet Mallory Park 2008, and the grid were forced to confront what looked like an unfolding nightmare as the orange machine sat in the armco, front stoved in, door hanging open, and for a few moments what looked like a driver lolling helpless in the seat.

For some of us, that image will stay ingrained, that split second until we recognised he was moving and intact will long remain as a cautionary warning that it can happen to us all.

Bob bounced back, with a new orange machine, and a triumphant 2nd in class at Snetterton in 2011 is his best placed finish to date - not bad to say that Bob drives entirely on the mirrors.

For those of us at Kutuka Towers, we long for the day that we can report his first win, we'd love that one.

Before the orange - the car punishes him for the banality of the paint!

Same track, a year on, and isn't that better? It's a genius paintjob, never, never change it.
